David Stern

David-Stern

David Stern

who is “David Stern”?

David Joel Stern[1] (born September 22, 1942) is the commissioner of the National Basketball Association. He began his relationship with The Association in 1966 as outside counsel, joined the NBA in 1978 as General Counsel, and became the league’s Executive Vice President in 1980. He became Commissioner in 1984 succeeding Larry O’Brien. He is credited with increasing the popularity of the NBA in the 1990s and 2000s. Stern has served on the Rutgers University Board of Overseers and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Columbia University. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

David Stern might work for free during his lockout!!!

In late June, Shane Battier(notes) made news by making both NBA Players Association head Billy Hunter and his Battier’s fellow players uncomfortable after openly wondering if Hunter would show solidarity with his players, and agree to work for one US dollar over the duration of the NBA lockout — as NFL union boss DeMaurice Smith had. The question was quickly scuttled. Don’t be silly, Shane.

how good a job has david stern done during his time as commissioner?

For all the negativity the NBA receives due to its thug image, I think he has done a great job. Considering the other leagues commissioners Selig is pretty much LOL, Goodell is now cleaning up a league in which Taglibue had issues that he chose to ignore, and who the hell is in charge of hockey??

Stern has had the least amount or work stoppages of all the leagues in his reign. And regarding character issues or brushes with the law his % is really good considering he has the least amount of people of all the other leagues. Other league franchises boast more than twice amount of personnel as an NBA franchise.

My only problem with Stern is his constant push to go global. Everyone in the world still recognizes us as the global power as all the world’s best players come to play in our league. Don’t water down the league anymore than it is by taking on more teams with no talent.

After a standout freshman season at the University of Texas,[2] Durant opted to enter the NBA Draft, where he was selected second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics. There he went on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award after his debut season. In 2007, Durant signed an endorsement contract with Nike.In the 2009–10 season Durant led the NBA in scoring and became the youngest player ever to win the NBA scoring title.[4] He would later be named to the 2010 All NBA First Team.

Kevin Durant Rocked Harlem’s Rucker Park With 66 Points

Where does Kevin Durant go during the off season? One thing for certain, its not some R/R time at Disney World. After a quick meet and greet tour in China on behalf of Nike Basketball, the NBA scoring champion took the opportunity to play at Harlem’s Rucker Park Monday night. In part to fulfill his life-long dream, Durant join a roster of super stars – Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Julius Erving and Kobe Bryant, all took part in pick-up games at the consecrated ground of street ball. None, though, matched Durant’s performance with a score of 66 points to lead his hometown street ball team of DC Power, 8 points shy of Rucker Park’s record of 74 points by the playground legend Joe “The Destroyer” Hammond. Expect video loop to be on this week’s ESPN Sports Center highlight of the week reel and once again proof why the shooting guard of Oklahoma City Thunder is the NBA player to watch in the next season.

1\What type of shoes did kevin Durant wear in college?
Probably Nike

2\Where can I find a kevin durant backpack to purchase?

It’s not on the shelves yet but Nike KD III is on the line. A backpack in Nike’s Kobe Bryant line costs $90.

3\What do you think about Kevin Durant and other freshmen in collage skipping to the NBA?
Unless NCAA is willing to bend its rule a little bit in regards to student/athlete income, I have no problem with it. These kids are just trying to get the most out of their career which can average about 10 years. The sooner you get in, the better.

I personally don’t like it b/c I think most kids jump to the NBA too early. They can develop better in the college level faster and probably be a better player. I don’t like it but I don’t have a problem with it.

The only option is to have the NBA have same policy as the NFL in regards to the age requirement but I don’t see the NBA doing that since some of those kids are definitely more talented and physically able to play in that level, just not refine.
